Oak Valley Real Talk program - currently suspended
Real Talk is a powerful, high-energy youth impact workshop that Oak Valley offers each year to all 8th grade students. Students, as well as, staff and adult volunteers in small group format are guided through a series of experiential learning segments surrounding topics pertinent to young modern teens.
The overall goals of the workshop are to increase personal power and self-esteem, to shift dangerous peer pressure to positive peer support, to eliminate the acceptability of teasing, violence and all forms of oppression. Real Talk is designed to unite the members of the school and community and to empower students to carry the themes of the program back to the greater school population. Real Talk also successfully addresses issues of violence, racism, harassment, conflict management, suicide, peer pressure, alcohol and drugs.
Workshop is offered during the course of a school day to all 8th grade students. More information to come at the start of the school year.
