Term Academic Awards
Principal's List - Any student that earns all A's or A-'s on their report card earn this honor. Students are recognized with their names listed in the school showcase, a letter of recognition sent home and celebrated by joining Mr. Myers at an ice cream social at the end of the school year.
Honor Roll - Any student that earns a 3.0 grade point average or higher each marking period are on the Honor Roll. Students are recognized with their names listed in the school showcase and a letter of recognition sent home.
"Rock & Roll" Award - Any student that improves a core academic grade by two letter grades or more from one marking period to the next earn this honor. Students are recognized by a letter of recognition sent home and a gift certificate to the school store of cafeteria.
Annual Academic Honors
Perfect Attendance Award - This honor is awarded to all students that have attended school every day school has been in session for the entire school year.
Academic Honors - Academic Honors are awarded to those students that held a 3.0 grade point average or above the entire school year.
Academic High Honors - Academic High Honors are awarded to those students that held a 3.5 grade point average or above the entire school year.
Academic Excellence - Academic Excellence is awarded to those students that held a 4.0 grade point average the entire school year.
President's Education Award - President's Education Award is awarded to all 8th grade students who maintained a 3.75 for five straight semesters.
Department Key Award - This award is given to 8th grade students who demonstrate a thoughtful approach and desire to improve their academic skills.
Board of Education Award - This award is presented to ten boys and ten girls in each grade. Honorees must have a combination of a 3.0 grade point average, citizenship grade of three or higher, activity points and a minimum of ten hours of community service. There is an application process to be considered for this award.
Dick Yeager Student Athlete Award - This honor is awarded to one boy and one girl from the 8th grade class that embody the character traits Dick Yaeger (retired Oak Valley teacher and coach) stood for and most admired in others throughout their career at Oak Valley. Those character traits are; honesty, punctuality, dedication, competitiveness, sportsmanship and appearance. These student athletes continually represent these traits both in the classroom and in the arenas of interscholastic competition.
National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) - All 7th grade students with a grade point average of 3.5 or above will be invited to apply for NJHS. NJHS is a national program that highlights Oak Valley's commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship.NJHS members are not only measured on student achievement but also community involvement. Members participate in school and community service projects annually. Students are recognized with their names listed in the school showcase, a letter of recognition sent home and a formal certificate honoring them as a member that is awarded at the annual induction ceremony.
Student of the Month - All students are eligible to be nominated for this award. Staff members nominate students monthly for their outstanding behavior, leadership and participation in school. Students are recognized by their name, photo and reason for the nomination in a school wide slide show, a formal certificate signed by Mr. Myers and an invitation for the student and their parent(s)/guardians to attend a pizza lunch in honor of all the students nominated that month.
